What is the C.H.E.S.S Foundation?
C.H.E.S.S, a non-profit organization located in Richmond, Virginia, stands for Children Entrepreneurs Securing Success. The mission of CHESS is to extract leadership, ambition, and success out of  youth and to guide them to favorable outcomes. Every person has a talent, whether it be in academics, the arts, sports, and/or a blend of them all. The C.H.E.S.S Foundation works on youth development from ages 5-18.  The overall goal of C.H.E.S.S is to empower the lives of youth through education, awareness, encouragement, and mentorship.

Foundation Overview:
C.H.E.S.S is a non-profit organization striving to empower the youth of today. The staff and volunteers of C.H.E.S.S come from different faucets of the community bringing a vast diversity and experience to the table. Similarly, the youth participants and members of CHESS spring from various socioeconomic settings and educational backgrounds. We provide mentoring, tutoring, guidance, workshops, and opportunities to youth as they progress into adulthood. As a result, C.H.E.S.S will unite a coalition of leaders and empowered minds to produce an epoch of successful leaders.

Why is it important?
Of course, education in this economy is vital, that’s a hot topic for every politician no matter which party. However, inspiring minds to excellence is right beside it. Sure, we can feed students facts about history, different theories in science and math, or expose them to an array of literature. We can teach them how to shoot a lay up in basketball, how to hit the right note on their flute, and how to ace their next exam. Yet, at the end of the day being able to apply these theories, skills, and knowledge into reality is critical for the youth of tomorrow.
